The

Challenge

The newly completed highway infrastructure forms a key part of the Sherford New Town development and includes new carriageways, pedestrian and cycle routes, crossing facilities and public realm improvements.

Street lighting defects affecting night-time visibility.
The need to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and school users.

Our

Solution

David A Graham Associates carried out detailed daytime and night-time site inspections, reviewing the completed highway infrastructure from the perspective of all road users.

Following the assessment, a comprehensive Road Safety Audit Report was prepared with practical engineering recommendations, including:

Measures to prevent pavement parking.
Improvements to tactile paving and pedestrian crossing layouts.
Replacement of worn road markings and additional speed limit signage.
Repairs to defective street lighting.
Minor highway improvements to enhance safety throughout the development.
